This course is the code standard for waterfront supervision for the Department of Health. This all-inclusive 26 hour course teaches candidates the skills and knowledge needed by professional lifeguards to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies at swimming pool facilities. All required CPR and First Aid skills are included in this course. Upon completion of this course, participants will receive certification in CPR AED for the Professional Rescuer (valid for 2 years) and Lifeguarding and First Aid (valid for 2 years).Prerequisites: 15 years of age before the final scheduled session (proof required); Successfully complete a required 300-yard continuous swim (consisting of 100 yards of the front crawl, 100 yards of breaststroke and 100 yards of either front crawl or breaststroke), and Swim 20 yards submerge to a minimum depth of 7 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface and swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the object and exit the water without using the ladder or steps within 1 minute, 40 seconds.
